Make sure you tie a knot in the end of the outhaul line, so it doesn't get pulled inside the boom.
If you don't follow tip #3, then you may need this little tool, or a long pair of tweezers. Actually, once the fear had subsided, the fix was not too difficult.
Lay the boom on its side with the mast end elevated.
Thread the outhaul from the mast end of the boom and push toward the outer end.
When the line appears at the end of the boom, use the hook or tweezers to grab and thread.
Tie a knot so it doesn't backslide.
